CA's founding Principal - Sandeep Baidwan, while supporting an established and successful transmission and power generation developer in the US, developed a series of transmission project ideas that consistently ranked high in MISO's evaluation of transmission ideas submitted by various developers. All these transmission project ideas were developed after rigorous and detailed study of the MISO's transmission network to increase market efficiency and reduce transmission congestion across certain flowgates. The transmission solution developed by Sandeep Baidwan - Duff to Coleman 345 kV line has since been selected by MISO Board for implementation as the first FERC Order 1000 project in its footprint. LS Power with its consortium partners - Hoosier Energy, and Big Rivers Electric Cooperative has since been selected to develop, construct, and operate the selected Duff to Coleman 345 kV transmission project.

CA supported and developed a 10-years master plan for an international T&D utility, with T&D assets in both the US and Europe. The master plan detailed expansion of the T&D network over a 10-years period in a Northeastern US state and adjoining areas. The Master Plan laid out a capital investment plan totaling over $600 million in power transmission infrastructure investments to comply with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards as well as enhancing reliability of the overall transmission network to meet the growing load and new generation resources requirements in the area of Study.

CA engineers have led and performed generator interconnection studies totaling over 15 GW in North America and across the world. From leading the efforts on first few large scale solar PV and wind power projects in Northeast US to the largest utility scale solar PV project in sub-Saharan Africa, currently in development, we have been at the forefront of advanced grid studies and analysis for integrating large amounts of renewable and intermittent power generation onto the electrical grids.

CA is currently in the process of completing a bankable feasibility study including detailed grid interconnection assessment for the largest utility scale solar PV project in sub-Saharan Africa.

CA's principal led and completed the design and implementation a large program to install phasor measurement units (PMUs) across National Grid US's transmission network across northeast US. CA's co-founder, Mr. Sandeep Baidwan acted as the Project and Program Manager for this project, which involved installing PMUs across National Grid's most critical high voltage substations across its service territory in New England and New York. The PMUs provided real-time, sub-second situational awareness for the transmission network to the National Grid, the NYISO, and the ISO-New England, the regional transmission organizations for New England and New York. As a result, the PMUs installed as part of the smart grid infrastructure help provided proactive assessment of critical and damaging disturbances on the grid, and helps avoid catastrophic even such as system instability and loss of synchronization that may eventually lead to cascading blackouts.

This specific smart grid project was sponsored by and financed through grants from the Department of Energy through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

CA's co-founder Bir Kaur lead a strategic IT and OT project for one of US's largest power transmission, distribution, and natural gas utilities. PSE&G wanted to establish a whole new line of business to provide additional services to its retail electric and natural gas customers in its service territory. Bir performed a detailed and thorough assessment and due-diligence of PSE&G's current in-house capabilities and systems to support this new LOB.

Additionally, Bir also worked on end-to-end architecture of new IT and OT systems to support the business and operations functionality of the new LOB in its entirety. Bir's efforts also lead to development of new apps that PSE&G's customers would access new products and services being offered under the LOB to all of PSE&G's retail customers.

CA with its consortium partners advised New York Power Authority, a large transmission and generation owing New York State utility on wide scale implementation and adaption of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) across its footprint and the footprint of municipalities that it serves. CA completed evaluation and assessment of various DER technologies including electric vehicles (EVs), with and without managed charging, battery storage energy system (BSES), controllable and dispatch-able loads, energy efficient smart lighting, behind-the-meter rooftop solar PV, and grid-scale, grid connected solar PV. CA team evaluated models and tools developed to assess these different technologies, their economics, and the impact of DER technologies on NYPA' transmission network and power generation fleet. CA developed detailed performance and operating profiles for these technologies based on actual operating data from operating projects in the field that it has consulted on in the past. CA principals helped identify new market and revenue opportunities, where NYPA can benefit by large-scale penetration of DERs. CA's work for NYPA with its partners lead to the power company's increased focus on DERs and new opportunities for revenue currently not available within its current business structure.

CA advised one of the largest DERMS platforms and associated solutions developers on business and operations use cases for adopting its DERMS platform for use with distribution utilities with wide variety of distributed asset classes. The DERMS platform developer and supplier was able to incrementally increase the functional offerings of its DERMS platform, and address the needs of new capabilities developing in the wider industry. CA also performed a comprehensive assessment of needs of DERMS and associated capabilities based on quickly changing industry paradigm for distributed energy resources in the wider northeastern distribution utility market.
